On February 5th Professor Tom Bartlett and Foothills students; Bryan McDevitt and Bruce Nolin left for the country of Nigeria. The team is involved with a 3 year process of training pastors and Professor Bartlett is there in Nigeria every 6 months and with this trip has completed 3 trips to Nigeria, to the city of Port Harcourt in the southern region. The training is part of a nationwide effort in Nigeria under the request of the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, (yes that’s his real name and He’s a Christian in a divided nation). The team taught on the value and implementation of small groups on this trip but have already covered topics such as preaching, leadership, church strategy and structure. With over 700 pastors present, this was the largest conference so far in their 3 year commitment. The other regions (5 in all) all experienced marked growth. The team was well guarded as Nigeria has some security challenges for traveling westerners.
Please continue to keep this team and their mission in your prayers, remembering also our Nigerian brothers and sisters as they face many hardships and persecutions.
